Street Wise Festival #2
Boulder, CO. 2024

In 2024, Street Wise turned its spotlight toward environmentalism. This wasn’t just about murals; the festival came alive with panel talks, gallery openings, kid-friendly classes, bike tours, and so much more.

This was my second time documenting this event, but this year I also got to dig a little deeper—producing six artist-specific highlights alongside the main micro doc. It was nonstop, but it felt good to be back working with Street Wise.

One of my favorite parts of shooting this time around? Easy, the people. Whether it was the organizers, fellow camera crews, or the artists themselves, there was this shared energy that just made the days fly by. I especially loved chatting with artist Catie Michel about her shark mural and how she worked with an ocean org based in Boulder.

The whole thing felt really collaborative and uplifting— just artists sharing what they care about. And once again, I walked away with a head full of new things learned from the artists and the stories they were telling.

Production Highlights:

  • Signing a bit with Artist Nico Cathcart. I have conducted interviews in other languages with assistance of translators but this was the first time I could somewhat carry the conversation myself outside of english.

  • juggling interviews between artist schedules, mural painting, and panels—sometimes all happening at once

Street Wise Festival ‘22

Check out our previous film with Street Wise! We filmed with them back in 2022 in Boulder, CO.

If someone watches this and ends up learning just a little more about local environmental efforts—or feels inspired to research more or create work with a message—that’s the win. Street Wise continues to be one of my favorite events to shoot, and yep, I’d do it again in a heartbeat.
